APPEARANCE
The intensity of colour sets the scene for an alluring wine, yet flashes of purple remind you of its youth and subsequent tension associated with Bordeaux blends.
NOSE
Not yet as forthcoming in fruit aromas, the wine is shawled in cool aromas of cedar bark, pine needles, slate, and graphite. But allow your senses to plunge into its deeper odorous layers as the wine is aerated to discover those quintessential primary aromas of blackcurrant, plum, liquorice, bell pepper and soft leather.
PALATE
The wine is dry with an exciting freshness that immediately steps in, relinquishing all the fruit that didn’t quite unleash its intensity on the nose. Its bright and captivating fruit almost startles you after its reticent first impression with a medley of black currant, black cherry and plum.
Poised on ripe and delectable tannin, it adds enough tension and definition to be approachable and enjoyable. The wine is full-bodied, yet its spry energy presents it as a more linear style. Intense flavour with an olive brine bitterness makes for a long, savoury finish.
