Barrel Aged Succo Marcio | Grappa

Distilled in South Africa, our Reserve Husk Spirit is exactly like Grappa, we just can’t call it Grappa. Similar to the classification of Champagne and South African MCC - different name, same incredible product.  

Somesay Husk Spirit, Somesay Grappa. We distilled the husk from our 5-Star Platters winner, Somesay Syrah 2021. Not a surprise then, that it is just as smooth. 

Succo Marcio - Italian for Rotten Juice - is a fragrant, grape-based spirit of Italian origin, made by distilling the skins, pulp, seeds, and stems left over from winemaking after pressing the grapes. It has since been maturing in an old Chardonnay barrel for three years, giving it a beautiful golden hue.  

Our Limited-Edition Reserve Succo Marcio is straight distilled, and only 550 bottles have been produced. 

It boasts a beautiful light golden hue, reflecting its premium quality, with a subtle barrel-aged tint. The nose offers citrus and nartjie rind, with a nutty undertone. On the palate, expect stone fruits like peach or nectarine, followed by a lingering, gentle spice. The spice, derived from the grappa's production using the skins of Somesay, presents as a mix of black pepper and lighter aromatic spices.
